Whirlpool Tub

Question
Whirlpool Tub Inquiry? How do you drain mobile units?

Answer
Our mobile whirlpools can be drained by opening the axillary drain valve and placing the whirlpool over a drain or pan to drain the water.  There will be approximately 1/4 inch of residual water that will not drain which can be soaked up by sponge or towel.

nebulizer vs holding chamber

Question
hi, my 6 year old son uses a holding chamber with a double valve to manage his asthma with salbutamol and occasionally fluticasone propionate. after a recent flare up, including a very short trip to hospital 4 hours, not admitted my family is giving me a lot of grief about not having a nebuliser. i have tried to find reference materials on the web about nebulisers being a superior method of delivery for his drugs but i have found not one article supporting this. are you able to give me some reasons other than personal reference why a patient would be better off using a nebuliser? thank you in advance, much appreciated. nice website, maggie

Answer

We do not have an exact answer for you, the delivery of medication is relative.  Generally the hand-held puff inhalers used with holding chambers are for more of an emergent situation where the medication is needed urgently.  If the child uses the medication daily as routine, nebulizers deliver a more direct stream of medication in liquid form into the mouth which also moistens the air passages and makes it easier to breathe.

Nebulizers are used more often than not for daily routine treatments while again inhalers are for more emergent situations.

I have attached some links below on articles showing different views on nebulizer versus inhaler treatments:

Full-Electric Hospital Bed Package w/ Half Length Rails, 0203TTUF

Question
My mother has congestive heart failure and needs to sleep with her upper body perpendicular to her lower body and with her legs raised. She also has a tendency to lean to one side or the other. She is also at risk for pressure ulcers. Please advise options for a bed.

Answer

Our full electric beds will be of use for her.  In addition to this, we offer support surfaces (mattresses) which can reduce pressure points and aid in prevention of ulcers.  We would suggest for her leaning possibly a torso support wedge pillow which will support her on either side and keep her from leaning side to side.  If you would like some options please let me know and I'd be happy to provide links to the products.
