lightweight shoes

Question
I am a type 11 insulin diabetic with inflmatory arthritis and edema. I need a very light weight shoe to help me with my problems. I have spent alot of money trying to find a shoe that will help me. Heavy shoes just weigh down on my legs and back. I am desperate to find a light weight shoe to help me be more mobile.

Answer

The shoe that was recommended as one of the lighter weight shoes we carry (due to much of the material being a mesh type material) is our Womens Diabetic Stealth Runners.  Shipping weight in box is approximately 3 pounds for one pair.  These shoes come in a variety of widths (Medium, Wide and X-Wide) and sizes (4.5-13).

Toilet back rests with removable cushions

Question
Do you manufacture a toilet back rest built on to a stainless steel frame with a removable cushion?

Answer
We do not carry any units with removable cushions.  The items we have are called "Toilet Safety Frames" and these are arms that are mounted to the commode and supply additional support in standing up or sitting down.  Alternatively, we have "Elevated Toilet Seats" some of which include arms and some do not.

Question
My 14 year old daughter has 2 winged scapulas and sloped shoulders. She cannot lift her arms above her head. Would this devise benefit her

Answer

Thank you for your inquiry.  This device may benefit your daughter.  It is important to keep in mind that this device is designed to fight the bodys natural tendencies to slouch forward.  Therefore, it would take some time for your daughter to get used to wearing this product.  The best thing to do is to gradually increase the tension on the straps over a period of several weeks.  Also, you may wish to consider stretching and strengthening exercies to develop muscle tone in the back and shoulders.

Question
I have a hospital bed and am having a lot of problems with the vinyl covering causing me to sweat during the night. I am using an adjustable bed to allevate back pain. I have tried many things to keep the heat from building up underneath me. Is there a mattress that is made to help thisThanks

Answer

We would suggest a convoluted foam or air overlay, these options are typically less expensive than a mattress, however reduce constant contact with the mattress therefore reducing heat buildup.  They also aid in reducing pressure which is beneficial if you have any discomfort with your existing mattress.

suture needles

Question
I'm looking at sutures for emergency situations - stuck in deep wilderness without a chance for rescue for days. Which suture would you recommend for stitching up a wound like a laceration? Where do I find the suture needles on your site?

Answer

Thank you for your patience. Any suture with a cutting needle that is non-absorbable material like nylon (polypropylene and monomids) so the suture does not break down by natural elements like extreme heat and moisture.

The following sutures below would be able to adapt to that type of enviroment:

Nonabsorbable Nylon Sutures for NP-3 Precision Point Needle

Nonabsorbable Mono Poly Sutures for NP-3 Precision Point Needle
