Question
Why do you charge 9 dollars for something that can be shipped for 4.95 in a USPS container that they will bring to you and charge a flat rate for? I was going to buy a product from you, but I wont buy it for double the actual cost of shipping. That isn''t right to be charging folks so much for something that is much cheaper than you advertise.
Answer
Dear Mr. James:
Thank you for your feedback. At first glance it may seem very expensive to ship a $5 item for nearly $9, especially when many companies offer free shipping. On the other hand, those same companies build in an extra cushion into their profit to off-set the cost of shipping. MSEC offers products at very competitive prices and does not have the extra cushion to absorb the cost of shipping. You mentioned USPS at $4.95. That is a very reasonable and fair price. However, we use UPS/Fedex for domestic shipping and their prices tend to be a bit higher, but in return you have the benefit of up to the moment tracking and insurance of the shipment. Additionally, when you take into account the cost of packaging material, handling labor, and the charge from the shipping company, it does really does add up to nearly $8-$9 to ship a product. The cost that it takes to ship a $100 purchase is nearly the same as to ship $5 item. But on a $5 order, the cost of shipping is much more noticeable. We hope the holiday season finds you in good sprits and please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
