Thank you for your inquiry.  The convoluted portion of this mattress will aid in reducing pressure sores, however if the patient is bed-ridden, cannot prevent them.  You may consider a Pressure Reducing Foam Mattress or even an Alternating Pressure Pump & Mattress System which is much more effective in reducing/preventing pressure sores.
