It is recommended after the injury to not bear any weight or very minimal pressure on the foot for approximately ten weeks.

After this period, you could proceed to wearing a "cam walker" or shelled walking boot.  This still allows protection of the foot but also will allow you to bear some weight without re-injuring the foot.

When Biatain AlginateDressing and Filler come into contact with wound exudate the calcium ions from the dressing are replaced by sodium ions present in the exudate. This ion exchange causes Biatain Alginate Dressing and Filler to form a soft, cohesive gel which locks the exudate inside ensuring less risk of leakage or damage to the periulcer skin.
