The therapeutic use of heat produced in tissues by electromagnetic radiation is called shortwave diathermy (the best method applied to large areas) which causes a temperature rise from the conversion of energy into heat as it penetrates the tissues.

How does Shortwave Diathermy work?

Shortwave diathermy heats the tissue by causing oscillations of electromagnetic energy of high frequencies. The physiologic effects of temperature occur at the site of the application and in distant tissue.

The local effects occur due to the elevated local temperature which is associated with increased local blood flow, capillary dilatation and capillary permeability. It results in higher level tissue metabolism and more rapid transfer of nutritional ingredients to the end organs and tissues. It promotes faster healing. Short wave heat increases connective tissue elasticity, reduces muscle spasm, and sedates the nerve endings to change the pain threshold.

Distant changes from the heated target location include reflex vasodilatation and reduction of muscle spasm, increase in body temperature, respiratory and pulse rates and decreased blood pressure.

Diathermy increases white blood cell concentration in the area of chronic inflammation (possibly via increased vascular supply).

Shortwave Diathermy Benefits

The use of short wave diathermy might be beneficial in such musculoskeletal conditions (in subacute or chronic state) such as arthritis and bursitis, musculoskeletal pain/spasm, sprains/strains and tendonitis.

Shortwave Diathermy Contraindications

1. Metal implants
2. Pregnancy
3. Malignancy
4. Pacemaker
5. Ischemia or atherosclerosis
6. Active bleeding
7. Open wounds, skin lesions in treatment area
8. Acute infection/fever

We are able to accept returns, however there is a minimum 20% restocking fee on this item if it is returned.  Original shipping is non-refundable and return shipping is your responsibility.  This must be returned within 30 days from the date of shipment otherwise it will not be accepted.  We do have other items with lesser restocking fees, as little as 10%.

Would this be appropriate for a person with Parkinsons Disease - to use as walking aid Is it tip-proof? It looks difficult to tip right or left, but can it tip forward or tip backward? Looking for way to get a Parkinson's patient in nursing home walking more independently.

Thank you for your inquiry.  This is a tip-proof walker designed more to prevent lateral tipping (side-to-side).  However, the elongated profile of the wheelchair and the low center of gravity makes it also more difficult, but not impossible to tip forward or backwards, but the effort would have to be delibarate.

Measured from high point shoulder – 30” + Elastic cuff is 4 ½” = 34 ½”

Sleeve inseam – 19” + elastic cuff is 4 ½” = 23 ½”

Most of our lab coats specified as "women's" are sized S-XXXL.  If there is a sizing, it is normally dress size which would be found on our consultation coats:

We apologize for the conflicting information.  It seems that this item does have buttons.  We have pull-up style briefs which do not have buttons if you may be interested.

I have used safes in the past to prevent the theft of my prescriptions but have never found one secure enough. Anything with a lock eventually gets picked and it seems that everything I find has an override lock. Any suggestions

Fingerprint safes certainly offer an alternate and perhaps a more secure option to traditional lock safes.   Dual lock or electronic safes are other consideration.  However, the smaller narcotics cabinets are merely deterrents, larger, more robust safes provide a more formidable obstacle to break-ins.
